From the Facebook of the St. Mary’s County Commission for Women:

It is with a heavy heart that we share the news that the 2020 Women’s History Month Banquet, which had been postponed, has now been canceled due to ongoing public safety concerns surrounding large gatherings and in compliance with Governor Hogan’s orders regarding COVID-19. St. Mary’s County Government will issue a press release with the formal announcement soon.

To every Woman of the Year and Tomorrow’s Woman nominee – we are sorry that we cannot give you the night you deserve. Your hard work serving the community is worthy of recognition and celebration.

The St. Mary’s County Commission for Women (CFW) still wishes to showcase the outstanding work of the nominees, in addition to this year’s Lifetime Achievement recipient. Nominees – please check your emails for more details.

Please visit the CFW’s Facebook page beginning on June 1, 2020 to see the honorees featured over the course of the week, culminating in the announcement of award winners on Tuesday June 9, 2020 at 8pm.

The CFW is appreciative to everyone who reserved a seat to attend this annual event, which serves as the main fundraiser for the Jane Hale Sypher Scholarship to support students returning to pursue their studies at the College of Southern Maryland.

Patrons may choose to donate their ticket cost to the Scholarship Fund by contacting Debra Kane with the St. Mary’s Human Services Division at [email protected], 301-475-4200, ext 71680 by June 15, 2020. Otherwise, your seat reservation payment will be refunded.

Finally, we wish to express our gratitude to all our banquet nominees, nominators, speakers, guests and sponsors for your patience and ongoing support. Thank you!
