Decking the Halls

The Town of North Beach Waterfront Staff has been busy ‘decking the halls’ around town! As many of you know, it takes about six to eight weeks to complete the installation of the holiday decorations and lights. This task must be completed each year prior to the Light Up the Town, the annual Holiday Parade and Santa on the Beach events.

For those of you wondering, here are some fun facts about the holiday decorations:

  • Installation usually takes over 500 hours to complete.
  • The total weight of all the decorations is over 7,000 pounds.
  • One mile of extension cords is installed.
  • The Christmas tree on the pavilion is 24 feet tall.
  • The Christmas tree is adorned with over 900 ornaments and takes two days to decorate.
  • The garland that stretches from 1st Street to 5th Street on the boardwalk is 1,875 feet or almost 4/10 of a mile.
  • The garland is dressed in 68 bows.

We hope you enjoy and appreciate the festive decorations as much as we do!
