The College of Southern Maryland men’s basketball team split their trip to the Montgomery College Tip-Off Classic on November 16 and 17, beating Mercyhurst North East 90-68 but falling to Cape Fear Community College 115-94.
Sophomore Lelan Eackles posted another double-double with 23 points and 18 rebounds on Saturday against Mercyhurst North East. He went 7-15 from the floor and 8-12 from the free-throw line.
Sophomore Warrick Godwin scored in double-digits again, leading the Hawks in points against Mercyhurst North East with 24. He went 6-16 from 3-point range.
Sophomore Amir Lawrence was the leading scorer for CSM in their loss to Cape Fear, registering 24 points off of 9-14 shooting from the floor and going 6-7 from the free-throw line.
Williams and freshman Devin Thomas supplied 13 points each. Williams had three steals and Thomas had three assists.
All of Godwin’s 12 points came from behind the 3-point line, where he went 4-8, and all of Curtis’ 10 points came from the free-throw line, where he went 10-13.
CSM’s record now stands at 2-5. They will face Thomas Nelson Community College on Friday, November 22 at 7 p.m. for their first home game of the season.
