NORFOLK, VA (NSN) – A Mechanicsville, Maryland native and Chopticon High School graduate was awarded the Naval and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (NAM) Nov. 4.

Navy Petty Officer Renee Buckler-Geisler is a Fire Controlman assigned to Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC) in Norfolk, Virginia.

The NAM is awarded when a Sailors act or service clearly exceeds that which is normally required or expected, considering the individual’s grade or rate, training, and experience; and it must be an important contribution of benefit to the United States and the naval service.

MARMC is home to more than 3,000 Sailors and civilians who provide surface ship maintenance, management, and oversight of private sector maintenance and fleet technical assistance to ships in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States and support the 5th and 6th fleet areas of responsibilities.
