UPDATE October 28, 2019: The Office of the State Fire Marshal has issued its preliminary findings on the house fire on October 25, 2019.
The Fire Marshal states that the fire was discovered by a neighbor in the area of the laundry room. Seventh District VFD was the primary responding unit, however units from several other companies also assisted.
The estimated loss of structure is $200,000.00 with no contents on the premise. No injuries were reported either.
At this time the Fire Marshal’s report lists no cause of the blaze. Anyone with any information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Office of the State Fire Marshal, Southern Regional Office, at 443-550-6835.
UPDATE 11:30 a.m.- Mechanicsville VFD is currently on the scene along with Leonardtown. Charles County has sent Bel Alton, Hughesville and Newburg to assist. MVFD reports they are only doing a defensive attack at this time and the Fire Marshal is en route. SMECO has been notified of live electrical lines down.

Coltons Point, MD- Units are currently responding to a single-family residential fire reported in Coltons Point MD on Riverview Drive.
The caller is on the scene and also states there was an “explosion and the house is fully involved.
Watch for emergency vehicles and personnel.

The Southern Maryland Chronicle is a local, small business entrusted to provide factual, unbiased reporting to the Southern Maryland Community.
