Sheriff’s Office searching for wanted individual in Leonardtown

UPDATE 1:50 p.m.- CSM-Leonardtown has lifted its lockdown. Police are still looking for the individual.


Leonardtown, MD- The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office is currently searching for a wanted individual in Leonardtown. The individual was to be severed a non-violent, felony warrant and fled.

Witnesses placed the wanted individual on the College of Southern Maryland Campus. The Campus is currently on lockdown as the Sheriff’s Office searche the campus.

Jason Babcock, PIO of the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office tells the Southern Maryland Chronicle that the area schools have been notified and Leonardtown Middle and Elementary Schools are on a “modified” lockdown. He also said the Sheriff’s Office does not believe that this individual poses a threat to the community. The lockdown is a precaution.

No threats have been made to the campus.
