Our next very special event will be on October 4th, 2019 from 5-8 PM and will feature a free concert by country band Cowboy Crossing at Leonardtown Square! Check the “Leonardtown First Fridays” page on Facebook for info about participating businesses and planned activities including: pumpkin painting at The Square, the Scarecrow Stroll at participating businesses (vote for your favorite!), fall-themed selfie stop Downtown, a “Mini Pumpkin Chuckin’ Contest”, face painting, scarecrow making at Shepherd’s Old Field Market, one-evening only specials at the shops and restaurants throughout town, art gallery receptions and workshops, a scavenger hunt, and much more!
The audience participation Drum Circle will be hosted by the SoMar Drummers and St. Mary’s County Arts Council (all ages and skill levels welcome, some percussion instruments will be available or bring your own!) at Leonardtown Square from 8-9 PM.
Public areas are pet-friendly (leashes please), many shops also invite 4-legged friends inside, just check with the individual businesses for their pet policies. Please note that any last-minute changes to outdoor events due to inclement weather will be announced on the First Fridays Facebook page, the back-up location for the Drum Circle will be at Leonardtown Town Hall. The Southern Maryland Chronicle is a local, small business entrusted to provide factual, unbiased reporting to the Southern Maryland Community. While we look to local businesses for advertising, we hope to keep that cost as low as possible in order to attract even the smallest of local businesses and help them get out to the public. We must also be able to pay employees(part-time and full-time), along with equipment, and website related things. We never want to make the Chronicle a “pay-wall” style news site.
To that end, we are looking to the community to offer donations. Whether it’s a one-time donation or you set up a reoccurring monthly donation. It is all appreciated. All donations at this time will be going to furthering the Chronicle through hiring individuals that have the same goals of providing fair, and unbiased news to the community. For now, donations will be going to a business PayPal account I have set-up for the Southern Maryland Chronicle, KDC Designs. All business transactions currently occur within this PayPal account.
