Prince Frederick, MD- The Calvert County Board of County Commissioners recognized Family Network Coordinator Julie Mashino with a Pride & Quality Award for exemplifying extraordinary public service.

One year ago, Julie applied for a Governor’s Office for Children (GOC) grant to develop a web-based resource directory for human services. She also secured financial support for annual updates and maintenance from the following key partners: Calvert Library, the Health Department and Calvert County Public Schools (CCPS).

In addition to her work on OurCalvert.com, Julie engaged CCPS culinary staff and representatives from Farming 4 Hunger, Heart F.E.L.T., Judy Center, Lifestyles, Inc. and the Department of Social Services to develop a pilot summer lunch program. Julie also secured funding from the GOC and No Kid Hungry. The program ran for six weeks and was open to all community members. Throughout the program, 416 fresh meals were provided to Lusby families.

Congratulations, Julie, and thank you for your outstanding service!
