Fire Marshal investigating potential arson in White Plains

La Plata, MD- On Saturday, September 14, 2019, at 12:58 a.m., the La Plata Volunteer Fire Department was called to a structure fire on Rhodes Way in White Plains, MD.

Upon arrival with fifteen personnel, they discovered a small fire on the exterior of a 1-story single-family dwelling. The fire was controlled in five minutes.

The Office of the State Fire Marshal was called to the scene to investigate. The Marshal’s report lists the damage as $1,500.00. It also states that” an unknown subject ignited the exterior of the residence.”

There were no injuries as a result of the fire.  Anyone with any information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Office of the State Fire Marshal, Southern Regional Office, at 443-550-6834.
