Thousands of Lanterns Will Light Up the Potomac River This Saturday

News Release, Bendure Communications

Experience the magic at the One World Water Lantern Festival with the incredible sight as thousands of lanterns are launched to float on the Potomac River with messages of love, hope, and happiness.  The Water Lantern Festival at National Harbor is an incredible experience where thousands of family, friends, and strangers celebrate life together by creating lanterns that are then launched onto a designated area of the Potomac.

The event is from 4 to 9 p.m. and the lantern launch window typically begins at sunset and will continue for 1-2 hours until everyone has had an opportunity to launch their lantern into the water.

Every adult purchased ticket comes with materials to make their lantern. Guests then gather around to pray, meditate or reflect on their lantern. Lanterns are often made in memory of a family’s loved one(s) or in honor of family and friends. The site of the many families quietly gathered around their lanterns and then the launch and the lights on the Potomac River are a spectacular visual.

After the event, the lanterns are collected and removed from the water as well as any trash that may have been previously in or around the water.
