Leonardtown Offers a Series of Exciting Events in July
to Help Kick off Your Summer of Fun!

Leonardtown, MD –Are you looking for a fun way to kick off your Summer? Do you love music and dancing? Then Leonardtown has you covered with a series of FREE, family-friendly concerts and music-themed events.
The fun kicks off on the 4th of July Weekend with back-to-back concerts in Leonardtown Square and continues all month long. First up is Red, White and Blues/Jazz First Friday featuring Bob Schaller and Friends on Friday, July 5th. Bob has gathered his friends to hold a blues and jazz jam session in historic Leonardtown Square from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
There will also be First Friday receptions at local art galleries and specials at the stores and restaurants throughout Leonardtown. The fun continues when Latrice Carr takes the stage on Saturday, July 6th from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Dance and sing along as Latrice performs a variety of smooth stylings from Adult Contemporary, Rock, Jazz, Gospel, Adult Pop, and Adult R&B.
Then on the following weekend join us for the 25th Annual Potomac Jazz & Seafood Festival Weekend Celebration throughout Leonardtown. The festivities begin with a FREE, Jazz Era Kickoff Party/Concert on the Square featuring the Chesapeake Swingband on Friday, July 12th. Attendees are encouraged to come dressed in attire from their favorite period from the 20’s, 30’s, 40’s or 50’s. There will be raffles and prizes awarded for the best costumes.
The main event will take place on St. Clements Island on Saturday, July 13th (tickets are required for Saturday’s event, visit www.potomacjazzandseafoodfestival.com for more info and to purchase tickets). The weekend ends on a high note on Sunday, July 14th with more exciting jazz-themed activities and events throughout historic Leonardtown including jazz brunches, art shows, a jazz era movie/cocktail party and more.
Round out July by joining us for another FREE, family-friendly concert on Saturday, July 20th when The Ryan Forrester Band (RFB) performs in Leonardtown Square for the first time from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
RFB combines an eclectic mix of Funk, Motown, Soul, R&B, Reggae & Rock for a smooth, one-of-a-kind sound.
Picnic bags can be ordered from participating restaurants in Town for the July concerts in the Square (menu selections offer a variety of options from light refreshments to a full meal and a bottle of wine or beer growlers), and enjoy a kid-free evening with Drop N’ Dine where children will be entertained with kid-friendly activities at participating businesses (by reservation only for select concerts).

The Southern Maryland Chronicle is a local, small business entrusted to provide factual, unbiased reporting to the Southern Maryland Community. While we look to local businesses for advertising, we hope to keep that cost as low as possible in order to attract even the smallest of local businesses and help them get out to the public. We must also be able to pay employees(part-time and full-time), along with equipment, and website related things. We never want to make the Chronicle a “pay-wall” style news site.
To that end, we are looking to the community to offer donations. Whether it’s a one-time donation or you set up a reoccurring monthly donation. It is all appreciated. All donations at this time will be going to furthering the Chronicle through hiring individuals that have the same goals of providing fair, and unbiased news to the community.
