Abigail Setzfan sworn in as Student Member of Calvert Board of Ed

Prince Frederick, MD- Newly elected Student Member of the Board of Education Abigail Setzfand was sworn in by Clerk of the Circuit Court Kathy Smith at the Board meeting held on May 23, 2019. 

Dr. Daniel D. Curry, Superintendent, said, “We look forward to getting to know Abigail better. We expect to learn more about student priorities through her. 

Abigail, a rising junior at Northern High, hopes to create more opportunities for students to voice their opinions and participate actively in improving the school community. She believes that student opinions matter and that, when students engage productively, they can shape their schools and improve the learning environment. She hopes to increase student access to jobs, internships, and other programs to prepare for life after high school. 

An outstanding student, Abigail has been involved with student government since middle school. She has served as the treasurer and fundraising coordinator for the Calvert Association of Student Councils and been a member of the National Junior Honor Society and 10th grade class council.
