The Department of Recreation, Parks, and Tourism and the Friends of Maxwell Hall are hosting a free open house of Maxwell Hall (17388 Teagues Point Rd, Hughesville) the last Sunday of every month from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. through October.  Maxwell Hall is a colonial home that was built in 1768 by a prominent merchant family. Dates include May 26, June 30, July 28, August 25, September 29, and October 27.

Enjoy the various gardens throughout the property, take a hike on one of the nature trails, view the informational displays on the War of 1918, and simply enjoy the peaceful country surroundings of Swanson Creek and the Patuxent River.
