Mill Creek Middle School and Calvert County Educational Support Person of the Year: Regina Hagelin

Regina Hagelin is so many things…a great listener, a kind soul, a hard worker. Most importantly she is an advocate for all children. As a special education instructional assistant at Mill Creek, you will find Mrs. Hagelin in many different classrooms throughout the day providing extra support to students who need it most.

She literally runs from class to class to run small groups or to provide extra help so that her students experience success. Also known as the Reading Intervention Goddess, Mrs. Hagelin runs a tight ship at Mill Creek. She ensures that the interventionists have the necessary materials to run groups effectively; she schedules data collection sessions; she assists with the placement of students – essentially, she does it all. Regina is always the first person to offer her support and assistance to her fellow colleagues yet expects nothing in return.

Her kind heart coupled with her dedication to the students of Mill Creek simply makes her one of the most loved and respected members of our staff.
