News Release, Calvert County Public Information Office

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. – April 4, 2019 – The Calvert County Department of Parks & Recreation is relocating its annual Easter Festival to Northeast Community Center following a fire in Chesapeake Beach adjacent to Kellam’s Field, the original site of the event.

The event is scheduled for Sunday, April 7 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Northeast Community Center, located at 4075 Gordon Stinnett Ave. in Chesapeake Beach. It will feature music, inflatables, balloon animals, face painting, super hero appearances and, of course, a visit from the Easter Bunny. Activities include an egg hunt for ages 8 to 11 at 1:15 p.m., ages 5 to 7 at 1:45 p.m. and ages 2 to 4 at 2:15 p.m.

Co-presenting the event are the Town of Chesapeake Beach and the Chesapeake Beach Water Park. In recognition of those affected by the fire, those attending may bring non-perishable food items and personal items as donations.

Call Northeast Community Center at 410-257-2554 or 410-535-1600 ext. 8210 for more information.

The Southern Maryland Chronicle is a local, small business entrusted to provide factual, unbiased reporting to the Southern Maryland Community. While we look to local businesses for advertising, we hope to keep that cost as low as possible in order to attract even the smallest of local businesses and help them get out to the public. We must also be able to pay employees(part-time and full-time), along with equipment, and website related things. We never want to make the Chronicle a “pay-wall” style news site.

To that end, we are looking to the community to offer donations. Whether it’s a one-time donation or you set up a reoccurring monthly donation. It is all appreciated. All donations at this time will be going to furthering the Chronicle through hiring individuals that have the same goals of providing fair, and unbiased news to the community. For now, donations will be going to a business PayPal account I have set-up for the Southern Maryland Chronicle, KDC Designs. All business transactions currently occur within this PayPal account. If you have any questions regarding this you can email me at

Thank you for all of your support and I hope to continue bringing Southern Maryland the best news possible for a very long time. — David M. Higgins II
