BOARDWALK RE-OPENING! – The Boardwalk officially reopens Saturday March 9th. Thank you for your patience. Enjoy!
NOTICE: The Rod and Reel parking garage project has reached a point where they will be bringing in a large crane to erect large precast concrete beams and structures. Work is expected to take place until Mid April, creating a flagging operation on Mears Avenue as the trucks arrive and leave. There are no permanent lane closures’ scheduled. The contractor will be using flag men to stop traffic to let the trucks in and out of the project due to their size. As the contractor provides details we will continue to relay the information to residents.
SAVE THE DATE! Join us in celebration of the 125th Anniversary of the incorporation of the Town of Chesapeake Beach. A celebration will be held at Town Hall on April 6 from 4:00-6:00 pm. More information to follow.
March 8–BAKED HADDOCK DINNER – Join us for an informal dinner from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. hosted by the Sons of the American Legion Stallings Williams Post 206 at 3330 Chesapeake Beach Road East on Route 260 in Chesapeake Beach, in the lower-level dining room. March 9 – COUNTRY DANCE. For a fun time, come to the American Legion Country Dance in the Upper Level Ballroom at the American Legion Stallings-Williams Post 206 at 3330 Chesapeake Beach Road East on Route 260 in Chesapeake Beach. If you can’t dance, teachers will be available to give instruction. One-hour lessons commence at 7:00 p.m. followed by dancing from 8:00 p.m. until 11:30. March 10 – ALL-U-CAN-EAT BREAKFAST. In 2019, this is the place for a yummy breakfast featuring Hot Cakes, Sausage, Scrapple, Bacon, Scrambled Eggs, Home Fries, Biscuits, Fruit, and Chip Beef. Hosted by the American Legion Auxiliary from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the upper level Dining Room in Chesapeake Beach on Route 260. Public Welcome. Adults $10; kids 6-12 $5; kids under 6 free. March 10 from 2-5 pm – Community Conversation: Calvert County Opioid Crisis Q&A. Get the facts, ask questions, learn how you can help. Join local government officials, health care providers, emergency responders and residents to discuss the opioid crisis in Calvert County, and the Towns of Chesapeake Beach and North Beach. Learn what is being done and how it is affecting your friends and neighbors. The Community Conversation will begin at 2 pm and end by 4 pm. It will be immediately followed by opportunities to explore the “Hidden in Plain Sight” exhibit, take naloxone training, and dispose of unwanted Rx drugs. For more information, click here .
March 13 9:00 AM- 9:00 PM Northeast Community Center – Good Samaritan Day. This day reminds us to help those in need by showing kindness and compassion. March 16th from 8 am-12 pm- Community Shredding Event – Get ready for Spring, and get rid of old paperwork! The Town of Chesapeake Beach, Town of North Beach and the North Beach Volunteer Fire Department are holding a Community Shredding Event at the North Beach Fire Department. June 15 from 5 pm – 7 pm Bayfront Park Nature Walk & Talk Series: Coastal Geology of Calvert Cliffs and Bayfront Park Beach. Join Chesapeake Beach’s own Dr. Ken Rasmussen, Professor of Geology and Oceanography at Northern Virginia Community College, as he describes the ancient past recorded in our stretch of Calvert Cliffs, and the dynamic modern-day forces that continue to shape them today. Event suitable for ages 13+, minors must be accompanied by responsible adult. No pets please. The event is free but registration is required as group size will be limited to 15 people.
