UPDATE 9/29/2019 5:08 p.m.- We have been informed by a source at the scene that the incident was a motorcycle crash.
Typically, when incidents are sent out over the Computer Automated Dispatch(CAD) it will list pedestrian and Bike crashes together.
The rider was flown to an area hospital. We will bring you more updates when the information is available.
UPDATE 9/29/2019 5:04 p.m.- The road is re-opened
Mechanicsville, MD- The Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department(4:24 p.m.) is currently on the scene of a motor vehicle crash in which a pedestrian was struck.
The incident occurred on Sandgates Road in the area of the Dixon Farm. The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office has shut down South Sandgates Road and North Sandgates Road between Della Brook Lane.
Della Brook Lane is on South Sandgates, about 1/4 mile passed Sandgates Inn and Seabreeze Resturant.
A MEDEVAC has been requested for the victim. Tropper 7, out of St. Mary’s Regional Airport in California, MD is currently en route.
Watch for emergency vehicles and personnel and there will be delays for anyone using Sandgates Road.
