The Birds Of Prey teaser trailer just dropped, and by the looks of it , Harley Quinn is striking out on her own and bringing some girl power with her!
Not much can be know about the plot of the film based on the 20 second tease, or the rating that will apply, but we do get a gimps of the characters involved! There is a release date set for January or February of 2020.
There is no telling if The Joker will make a cameo in this film, or Batman, for that matter, but I’m sure there will be plenty action and craziness to go around!
Harley Quinn, Played by: Margot Robbie
Harley Quinn is branching out following her DCEU debut in 2016’s Suicide Squad. This time she’s hanging around Gotham City and rubbing elbows with heroines like Huntress and Black Canary. We don’t know if this means Harley is going full hero this time, but she does appear to have moved past her relationship with Joker and adopted a whole new, Japanese-inspired wardrobe.
Huntress, Played by: Mary Elizabeth Winstead
Helena Bertinelli is one of many vigilantes to make Gotham City their personal stomping grounds. The daughter of a powerful crime boss, Helena witnessed the murders of her family at a young age. That compelled her to take up a crossbow and the Huntress identity, waging war on Gotham’s criminals with sometimes lethal force. However, her violent methods often put her in opposition to Batman.
Black Canary, Played by: Jurnee Smollett-Bell
Laurel Lance is the second woman to carry the mantle of Black Canary following her mother, Dinah. After training with some of the world’s finest fighters, she’s molded herself into a fearsome warrior whose martial arts skills are bolstered by her sonic scream. Whether working alone, with her sometime love Green Arrow or as a member of teams like the Birds of Prey and Justice League, Black Canary is a force to be reckoned with.
Cassandra Cain, Played by: Ella Jay Basco
Cassandra Cain is the daughter of feared assassin David Cain and legendary martial artist Lady Shiva. Thanks to her family background and her own ability to intuitively read her opponents, she may well be the most gifted warrior in the DC Universe. In the comics, Cassandra has served as both Batgirl and Orphan at different points. In the movie, Cassandra will find herself hunted by Black Mask, likely making her the catalyst for the Birds of Prey’s formation.
Renee Montoya. Played by: Rosie Perez
We can’t be entirely sure that this screenshot features Renee Montoya, but given the character’s propensity for drinking in the comics, it seems a safe bet. Renee is one of the few honest cops in Gotham City, often partnering with Harvey Bullock. That devotion to justice hasn’t made her life easy, however, hence why she often finds herself seeking the bottom of a bottle.
Black Mask, Played by: Ewan McGregor
Gotham crime lord Roman Sionis looks to be the main villain of Birds of Prey. Better known by the name Black Mask, this villain has built a reputation for sadism and brutality in a city already known for both. He also wears a distinctive mask carved from his father’s own ebony coffin.
Mr. Zsasz, Played by: Chris Messina
Black Mask will be joined by fellow Batman villain Victor Zsasz. A ruthless serial killer and occasional hired assassin, Zsasz is obsessed with carving tally marks into his own flesh – one for each victim he claims. The fact that his body is nearly covered in scars shows just how skilled he is in the art of murder. (character disc. Jesse Schedeen)
The Southern Maryland Chronicle is a local, small business entrusted to provide factual, unbiased reporting to the Southern Maryland Community. While we look to local businesses for advertising, we hope to keep that cost as low as possible in order to attract even the smallest of local businesses and help them get out to the public. We must also be able to pay employees(part-time and full-time), along with equipment, and website related things. We never want to make the Chronicle a “pay-wall” style news site.
To that end, we are looking to the community to offer donations. Whether it’s a one-time donation or you set up a reoccurring monthly donation. It is all appreciated. All donations at this time will be going to furthering the Chronicle through hiring individuals that have the same goals of providing fair, and unbiased news to the community. For now, donations will be going to a business PayPal account I have set-up for the Southern Maryland Chronicle, KDC Designs. All business transactions currently occur within this PayPal account. If you have any questions regarding this you can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Thank you for all of your support and I hope to continue bringing Southern Maryland the best news possible for a very long time. — David M. Higgins II
