Tuesdays – Bingo at the North Beach Volunteer Fire Department. $1000 jackpot. Admission is $8.00 per person.  Doors open at 5 PM and Bingo starts at 7:30 PM. Food and drink will be available for purchase. For more information please call 301-855-0520.

December 14 – Lasagna Dinner.  This tantalizing dinner with all the trimmings, including salad, and beverage will impress your taste buds. Hosted by the Sons of the American Legion Stallings-Williams Post 206 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.  Come to the lower level dining room for a meal you won’t soon forget.  Cost is $12.  The Post is on Route 260 in Chesapeake Beach and questions may be directed to (410)257-9878. .   Public Welcome.

December 14 – Santa and Mrs. Clause are coming to the North Beach Volunteer Fire Department at 7:00 pm. They will be arriving by fire truck. There will be stockings for all the children! Sponsored by the NBVFD Auxiliary.

December 16 – Children’s Christmas Party From 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the upper level Party Hall of the American Legion Stallings-Williams Post 206 at 3330 Chesapeake Beach Road E on Route 260 in Chesapeake Beach.  Hosted by the American Legion Auxiliary.  All are Welcome.  Santa may drop by to see who’s been good.  For information call (410_257-9878.

December 16 – Christmas Caroling with the folks from the Union Church.  Meet at the Nursing Home next to the Calvert County Hospital at 3:45 p.m.. After caroling at the Nursing Home Carolers will walk to the Hospital for more caroling, followed by dinner at your expense. Questions may be directed to (410)257-3555 or

December 17 – Red Cross Blood Drive from 11:00am to 7:00pm – Walk-ins accepted or contact Dave Wilson, Sr. via email .  St. Anthony’s Parish Padua Hall and hosted by Knights of Columbus Calvert Council #7870

December 17 – “Brightest Beacon on the Bay” Judging. Contact the Chesapeake Beach Town Hall before this date to register your home, townhouse, condo or boat to be included. Send us an email or call 410/257-2230. Prizes awarded at the Town Hall meeting on December 20th. Will you be one of the lucky winners?!

December 18 –  Steak Dinner.  Order your Steak direct from the Grill-Master.  The $17.00 price tag includes all the trimmings and a beverage.  From 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. hosted by the American Legion Stallings-Williams Post 206, on Route 260 in Chesapeake Beach, in the lower-Level dining room.  Public welcome.  For more information, call (410)257-9878.

December 24 – Christmas Eve Candle Light Service at 7:00 p.m. at Union Church. All are welcome. The Church is located next to the North Beach Town Hall at 8912 Chesapeake Avenue.  Questions may be directed to (410)257-3555 or

Special Invitation – This is an invitation for all Veteran’s and Active Duty Military personnel from Calvert County to join the Calvert County Council of the American Legion on January 12th for a meet and greet.   Come and learn about the American Legion and our many programs. There will be one of our State service officers to help you with questions on your VA benefits. This event will be held at American Legion Post 220 on Sixes Rd in Prince Frederick. There are four American Legion Posts here in Calvert County, Post 85, Huntingtown , Post 206, Chesapeake Beach, Post 220, Prince Frederick and Post 274, Lusby.  All the Posts will be represented along with the Sons of the American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary, if they are available.  The hours will be from 1400 till 1600. The Southern Maryland Chronicle is a local, small business entrusted to provide factual, unbiased reporting to the Southern Maryland Community. While we look to local businesses for advertising, we hope to keep that cost as low as possible in order to attract even the smallest of local businesses and help them get out to the public. We must also be able to pay employees(part-time and full-time), along with equipment, and website related things. We never want to make the Chronicle a “pay-wall” style news site.

All donations at this time will be going to furthering the Chronicle through hiring individuals that have the same goals of providing fair, and unbiased news to the community.
