Fredericksburg, Va. – Junior Patrick Paolini (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) garnered Capital Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week honors for the second time this season. This is Paolini’s third career conference weekly award.
He earned CAC Defensive Player of the Week accolades after leading the St. Mary’s College of Maryland men’s soccer team to a 1-0-1 week with a win over Salisbury University and a draw at Frostburg State University.
Paolini notched four saves and two shutouts in 200 minutes of work between the pipes last week. He now has five shutouts under his belt this season.
The 5-11 goalkeeper tallied three stops in a 1-0 win over regionally-ranked Salisbury before needing only one save in a scoreless tie at Frostburg State.
He finds himself in a tie for third in the conference in shutouts while ranking fifth in both goals against average (.92) and save percentage (.796).
The Seahawks (9-2-3, 2-1-1 CAC) will be back in action this Wednesday, October 17, hosting regionally-ranked York College of Pennsylvania (9-3-2, 2-0-2 CAC) in a CAC tilt in Seahawk Stadium at 3:30 p.m. for their Breast Cancer Awareness game.

The Southern Maryland Chronicle is a local, small business entrusted to provide factual, unbiased reporting to the Southern Maryland Community. While we look to local businesses for advertising, we hope to keep that cost as low as possible in order to attract even the smallest of local businesses and help them get out to the public. We must also be able to pay employees(part-time and full-time), along with equipment, and website related things. We never want to make the Chronicle a “pay-wall” style news site.
To that end, we are looking to the community to offer donations. Whether it’s a one-time donation or you set up a reoccurring monthly donation. It is all appreciated. All donations at this time will be going to furthering the Chronicle through hiring individuals that have the same goals of providing fair, and unbiased news to the community. For now, donations will be going to a business PayPal account I have set-up for the Southern Maryland Chronicle, KDC Designs. All business transactions currently occur within this PayPal account. If you have any questions regarding this you can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Thank you for all of your support and I hope to continue bringing Southern Maryland the best news possible for a very long time. — David M. Higgins II
