NSF Indian Head MWR Upcoming Fall Festivities

Registration opens today for the Winter Futsal League. Futsal is an indoor version of soccer that develops a players’ skills on the ball in tight spaces, speed of play and is tons of fun!

Visit the Weight House Fitness Center online.

With the upcoming Columbus Day holiday, most MWR facilities will be closed on Monday, Oct.8 with the exception of the Weight House Fitness Center (10 a.m.-2 p.m.)

and the Liberty Center (11 a.m.-10 p.m.).

STORYBOOK PUMPKIN CONTEST

-OCTOBER 9-22. | Get creative and turn your pumpkin into a character from a book of your choice. Pick up your free pumpkin from the Community Recreation Center on Oct.9 and return it by Oct. 22.

They will be voted on by the MWR library staff and winners announced at Trunk-or-Treat, Oct. 31.

YOUTH FISHING 101

-TUESDAY, OCT. 9 from 5-5:45 p.m. | Come to the Community Recreation Center and learn the basics of fishing from baiting a hook to casting techniques.

This is free and open to all children ages 15 and under with base access.

NAVY BIRTHDAY NAUTICAL MILE

-THURSDAY, OCT. 11 at 11 a.m. | Come celebrate the upcoming Navy birthday with a Nautical Mile at Ben Rand Field and hang around afterwards for a celebration.

Free for active-duty; $5 all others.

DIY HALLOWEEN WREATH

-THURSDAY, OCT. 11 from 5-7 p.m. | Are you looking for a little DIY Halloween décor? Join us at the Community Recreation Center to make a wreath of your own.

Cost: $5. Register by Oct.9.

MAGIC SCRATCH PAPER ART

-FRIDAY, OCT. 12 at 5 p.m. | It’s Teen Read Week and we’re celebrating with some Magic Scratch Paper Art fun!

Join us at the library to create your own masterpiece. This is free and open to kids ages 10 and up with base access.

The Southern Maryland Chronicle is a local, small business entrusted to provide factual, unbiased reporting to the Southern Maryland Community. While we look to local businesses for advertising, we hope to keep that cost as low as possible in order to attract even the smallest of local businesses and help them get out to the public. We must also be able to pay employees(part-time and full-time), along with equipment, and website related things. We never want to make the Chronicle a “pay-wall” style news site.

To that end, we are looking to the community to offer donations. Whether it’s a one-time donation or you set up a reoccurring monthly donation. It is all appreciated. All donations at this time will be going to furthering the Chronicle through hiring individuals that have the same goals of providing fair, and unbiased news to the community. For now, donations will be going to a business PayPal account I have set-up for the Southern Maryland Chronicle, KDC Designs. All business transactions currently occur within this PayPal account.
