St. Mary’s College of Maryland is ranked as the nation’s sixth best public liberal arts college in U.S. News & World Report’s “2019 Best Colleges” released Monday. St. Mary’s College also ranks 95 on the national liberal arts colleges list, public and private, 109 in best value schools and 89 in high school counselor rankings.
“We are among the top liberal arts colleges in the nation and the first of our kind,” said College President Tuajuanda C. Jordan. “Together, with students, faculty, staff, and our community, St. Mary’s College is leading the way. We lead through our programming, our service, and our passion. We lead through not trying to be like everyone else but by simply being our best selves.”
National liberal arts colleges ranked by U.S. News & World Report emphasize undergraduate education. To be included in this category, colleges must award at least 50 percent of their degrees in liberal arts disciplines. In addition to the U.S. New & World Report rankings St. Mary’s College has recently received several accolades. St. Mary’s is ranked #28 Among Top Liberal Arts Colleges by 2018 Washington Monthly College Guide, #1 in Peace Corps Volunteers among small colleges, #6 among the Top 50 Green Colleges and listed among Best 384 Colleges by the Princeton Review,. The College is also included in the 2019 Fiske Guide to Colleges, Money’s 2018-19 Best Colleges, and Forbes Best Value Colleges, recognized as a 2018-19 College of Distinction, and ranked among the Best Colleges of Maryland by Schools.com.
The Southern Maryland Chronicle is a local, small business entrusted to provide factual, unbiased reporting to the Southern Maryland Community. While we look to local businesses for advertising, we hope to keep that cost as low as possible in order to attract even the smallest of local businesses and help them get out to the public. We must also be able to pay employees(part-time and full-time), along with equipment, and website related things. We never want to make the Chronicle a “pay-wall” style news site.
To that end, we are looking to the community to offer donations. Whether it’s a one-time donation or you set up a reoccurring monthly donation. It is all appreciated. All donations at this time will be going to furthering the Chronicle through hiring individuals that have the same goals of providing fair, and unbiased news to the community. For now, donations will be going to a business PayPal account I have set-up for the Southern Maryland Chronicle, KDC Designs. All business transactions currently occur within this PayPal account. If you have any questions regarding this you can email me at email@example.com
Thank you for all of your support and I hope to continue bringing Southern Maryland the best news possible for a very long time. — David M. Higgins II
