Chesapeake Beach Upcoming Town Meetings and Town Events

IMPORTANT NOTICE:  Please be sure to put your trash and recycling out the evening before your pick up. The trash company will begin pick ups at 5:00 am due to the summer heat this will continue until September.
2018 Moonlight Cruises – The Town of Chesapeake Beach invites you to spend a summer evening cruising aboard “Miss Lizzy,”docked at Rod ‘N’ Reel Marina. Miss Lizzy is sixty-five feet long and carries 65 passengers.  We are offering two cruise dates for Summer 2018;  Friday, July 20 from 7:30 – 9:30 pm and Friday, August 25 from 7 – 9 pm. The cost is $32 per person.   Although children are welcome, these cruises are more suited for adults. Tickets are available at Town Hall if paying with cash, check or credit card. July 9 – 5:30pm – The Ethics Commission will hold a monthly meeting in Town Hall.  The Public is welcome.
July 9 – 6:30pm: The “Old Bridge” relocation team will hold their second meeting in the conference room at Town Hall. We now know what parts of the old bridge are available and we need to determine a location for them.
CBOCS is making a second batch of reef balls to deposit on the Old Rock Oyster Reef. The location for this project is the Chesapeake Village Water Tower at the end of Dark Star Lane on the following dates; July 10, 13, 17, 20, 24, 27, 31 August 3, 7, 10, 14, 17, 21, 24. That is Tuesdays and Fridays at 9 am for one hour. Fifteen volunteers are needed. Decorate your own reef ball and take home a souvenir oyster platter for your garden. A GREAT PROJECT FOR A HIGH SCHOOL COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT. Rain or Shine.
July 11 from 4:00 -7:00pm: The Naval Research Laboratory Chesapeake Detachment will hold a public Open House at the Northeast Community Center regarding the off-base drinking water investigation. For updates click here ,  or if you have specific questions, contact or 1-855-NRLCBD1 (1-800-675-2231.
July 11 – 7:00pm – Planning & Zoning meeting in Town Hall Chambers
July 14 – Oyster transfer from Fishing Creek to Old Rock Reef — 10 AM – Noon @ Abner’s Boat Yard.  CBOCS needs 25 volunteers to unload oyster cages, scrape cages, deliver oysters via boat to the reef in the bay and measure oyster survivability rate.  This is a shine event. In event of rain the rain date is July 21 -10 AM – Noon.  GREAT EVENT FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TO EARN SOME COMMUNITY SERVICE CREDITS.  Pier cage growers please bring your cages.

The Southern Maryland Chronicle is a local, small business entrusted to provide factual, unbiased reporting to the Southern Maryland Community. While we look to local businesses for advertising, we hope to keep that cost as low as possible in order to attract even the smallest of local businesses and help them get out to the public. We must also be able to pay employees(part-time and full-time), along with equipment, and website related things. We never want to make the Chronicle a “pay-wall” style news site.

To that end, we are looking to the community to offer donations. Whether it’s a one-time donation or you set up a reoccurring monthly donation. It is all appreciated. All donations at this time will be going to furthering the Chronicle through hiring individuals that have the same goals of providing fair, and unbiased news to the community.
