Friday, July 6 – First FREE Friday

5 – 8 p.m. The Museum and Drum Point Lighthouse are open and FREE to the public. Enjoy entertainment by Lydia Martin and Friends starting at 6 p.m. in the Harms Gallery and FREE 30-minute cruises on the Tennison. The Museum Store is open.

Sunday, July 8 – Dee of St. Mary’s Public Sail

2:30 – 4:30 p.m. Sail on board the Dee and experience the Patuxent River like never before! The boat leaves from the museum dock. Fee is $25 for ages 13 and up, $15 for children 5 – 12. No children under 5 please.  Preregistration required, call 410-326-2042 ext. 41 to register.

Tuesday, July 10 and Thursday, July 12 – Sea Squirts

10 – 10:30 a.m. and 11 – 11:30 a.m. Sharks!  FREE drop-in program for children 18-months to 3 years and their caregivers.

 

Saturday, July 14 – SHARKFEST!

10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Visit live sharks featured in the Corbin Pavilion. Participate in hands-on activities throughout the museum, make a shark-themed craft, and take a picture in the life-size jaws of a Megalodon shark.  Slide down the jaws of a giant inflated shark sponsored by Tidewater Dental. Face painting ($5 fee). Build a shark out of LegosTM and tag #cmmlegoshark and #calvertmarinemuseum. Food and drink vendors will be on-site. Museum admission applies; members are FREE.

Tuesday, July 17 – Story Time with Calvert Library Southern Branch

10 – 10:30 a.m. Join us for a Bay and Ocean theme for children 8 and under in the Harms Gallery. FREE.

Friday, July 20 – CMM Members Save 20%

10:15 a.m. – 4:45 p.m. Museum members enjoy a 20% discount in the Museum Store all day today and on the 20th of every month.

Saturday, July 21 – Fossil Field Experience

9 a.m.  – 2 p.m.  Come explore the fossils of Calvert Cliffs with a trained museum educator. For ages 8 and up. Cost is $20 and includes museum admission. Space is limited; preregistration required. Call 410-326-2042, ext. 41 to register.

 

Thursday, July 26 – Little Minnows

10 – 11 a.m.  A program for children age 3 – 5 and their caregivers. This month’s theme is Sharks! No Bones About It! Fee is $5, members are FREE.

 

Saturday, July 28 – Toy Boat Building

2 – 4 p.m. Make a toy boat in the Maritime History Hall with sessions starting on the half hour. $2 donation per boat requested. Museum admission required.

Saturday, July 28 – Lighthouse Adventure Cruise

7:45 a.m. – 5 p.m. See five lighthouses aboard a private charter boat with the museum’s lighthouse expert. Preregistraton required. Call 410-326-2042, ext. 41 to register.

Explore how the prehistoric past, natural environments, and maritime heritage come to life and tell a unique story of the Chesapeake Bay. The Southern Maryland Chronicle is a local, small business entrusted to provide factual, unbiased reporting to the Southern Maryland Community. While we look to local businesses for advertising, we hope to keep that cost as low as possible in order to attract even the smallest of local businesses and help them get out to the public. To that end, we are looking to the community to offer donations. Whether it’s a one-time donation or you set up a reoccurring monthly donation. It is all appreciated. All donations at this time will be going to furthering the Chronicle through hiring individuals that have the same goals of providing fair, and unbiased news to the community. For now, donations will be going to a business PayPal account I have set-up for the Southern Maryland Chronicle, KDC Designs. All business transactions currently occur within this PayPal account.
