2018 Moonlight Cruises – The Town of Chesapeake Beach invites you to spend a summer evening cruising aboard “Miss Lizzy,” docked at Rod ‘N’ Reel Marina. Miss Lizzy is sixty-five feet long and carries 65 passengers. We are offering two cruise dates for Summer 2018; Saturday, June 16(CANCELLED), Friday, July 20 from 7:30 – 9:30 pm and Friday, August 25 from 7 – 9 pm. The cost is $32 per person. Although children are welcome, these cruises are more suited for adults. Tickets are available at Town Hall if paying with cash, check or credit card. May 31 – 6 pm Twin Beach Opioid Abuse Awareness committee meeting in Town Hall.
June 2 –10 AM OYSTER RELOCATION. CBOCS is moving oysters from Fishing Creek to the Bay. The location is Abner’s Boat Yard. Need 25+ volunteers to unload cages, count spat, scrape cages and take the oysters to the bay. Rain date is June 9, same time. GREAT 3 HOUR HIGH SCHOOL COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT. Pizza served as usual.
June 2, 5 pm – 7 pm – Bayfront Park Nature Walk & Talk Series: The Coastal Geology of Calvert Cliffs and Bayfront Park Beach (rain date, June 3, 5 – 7 pm) — Join Chesapeake Beach’s own Dr. Ken Rasmussen, Professor of Geology at Northern Virginia Community College, as he describes the dynamic geological forces that formed the cliffs and continues to shape them to this day. Event suitable for ages 13+, minors must be accompanied by responsible adult. No pets. The event is free but registration is required as group size will be limited to 15 people. The Waterpark is looking for Lifeguards – The Chesapeake Beach Water Park is currently hiring Lifeguards for the 2018 Season. Being a Lifeguard at the CBWP is a wonderful way to spend your summer and we offer Lifeguard certifications through our Water Park. All Lifeguards must be 15 years old by May 26, 2018. The Southern Maryland Chronicle is a local, small business entrusted to provide factual, unbiased reporting to the Southern Maryland Community. While we look to local businesses for advertising, we hope to keep that cost as low as possible in order to attract even the smallest of local businesses and help them get out to the public. We must also be able to pay employees(part-time and full-time), along with equipment, and website related things. We never want to make the Chronicle a “pay-wall” style news site.
To that end, we are looking to the community to offer donations. Whether it’s a one-time donation or you set up a reoccurring monthly donation. It is all appreciated. All donations at this time will be going to furthering the Chronicle through hiring individuals that have the same goals of providing fair, and unbiased news to the community.
