April 18, 2018: On Friday, May 11, 2018 at 11 :00 a.m., the Town of North Beach will hold a ceremony to celebrate the Callis Park Gate public art project and to acknowledge gifts from The Arts Council of Calvert County and The Maryland State Arts Council. The ceremony will be held at the Robert W. Callis Memorial Park, located at 9018 Chesapeake Avenue in North Beach, Maryland. The public is invited and encouraged to attend this acknowledgement ceremony.
The public art project at Callis Park consists of two beautiful custom gate panels. Mr. Chas Sherman of Independent Custom Metalworks in Bladensburg, MD will be recognized for designing, fabricating and installing the fully-functional gate. This gate adds ta the rising collection of art pieces in the Town of North Beach. Pedestrians and motorists can see the gate as they travel Chesapeake Avenue. This gate was partially funded by the Town of North Beach and also funded from financial support from The Arts Council of Calvert County and The Maryland State Arts Council.
