The Department of Recreation, Parks, and Tourism is receiving the Showcase Marketing and Communications Award from the Maryland Recreation and Parks Association (MRPA) in the category of social media for the 2017 Summer Recreation, Parks, and Tourism Report.
The 2017 Summer Recreation, Parks, and Tourism Report highlighted summer camps, swim programs, and the annual Celebrate Charles: A Fun Filled Fourth. The video features Recreation, Parks, and Tourism staff and is produced by Charles County Government Television. To view the video, visit www.youtube.com/watch?v=wnt1cYHuttU.
“Our department is always seeking ways to engage and inform residents about our services and programs,” said Department of Recreation, Parks, and Tourism Director Eileen Minnick. “I’m proud our staff received this state award and look forward to seeing their innovative spin on future social media efforts.”
The MRPA Agency Showcase provides an opportunity for Maryland’s park and recreation agencies to highlight their talent, share ideas, and recognize the best marketing and promotions materials in the state. Entrants were judged by art, marketing, and communications professionals who are not members of the MRPA.
The Department of Recreation, Parks, and Tourism will be presented with the award at the Celebrating Excellence Showcase Awards Luncheon and Silent Auction onThursday, March 1 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the Cylburn Arboretum, located at 4915 Greenspring Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland.
The Southern Maryland Chronicle is a local, small business entrusted to provide factual, unbiased reporting to the Southern Maryland Community. While we look to local businesses for advertising, we hope to keep that cost as low as possible in order to attract even the smallest of local businesses and help them get out to the public. We must also be able to pay employees(part-time and full-time), along with equipment, and website related things. We never want to make the Chronicle a “pay-wall” style news site.
To that end, we are looking to the community to offer donations. Whether it’s a one-time donation or you set up a reoccurring monthly donation. It is all appreciated. All donations at this time will be going to furthering the Chronicle through hiring individuals that have the same goals of providing fair, and unbiased news to the community. For now, donations will be going to a business PayPal account I have set-up for the Southern Maryland Chronicle, KDC Designs. All business transactions currently occur within this PayPal account. If you have any questions regarding this you can email me at email@example.com
Thank you for all of your support and I hope to continue bringing Southern Maryland the best news possible for a very long time. — David M. Higgins II
