Community events happening in St. Mary’s County

Tomorrow, Friday, January 19 from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. St. Mary’s County Health Department is sponsoring a Free Flu Vaccine Clinic for Children

Saturday, January 20 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Heritage Chocolates is hosting Decorate a Marshmallow Snowflake. $2 each.

Next Tuesday, January 23 from 6:30 – 8 p.m. MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital is sponsoring a live interview event entitled Ask the Doc: Protecting Your Student Athlete. The event will be held at Leonardtown High School. Admission is free but you must reserve a seat in advance. Register online today:

Next Wednesday, January 24 from 4 – 6:30p.m. Dr. James A. Forrest Career And Technology Center will host the annual BECA Scholarship Fair for high school seniors and their families. a great place to learn about scholarships and other financial aid.

Next Thursday, January 25 from 6 – 7:30 p.m. the St. Mary’s County Health Department is continuing their Opioid Learning Series: The Opioid Crisis in St. Mary’s County at The Lexington Park Branch of the St. Mary’s County Library.

St. Mary’s County Recreation & Parks is looking for Youth Groups to Volunteer for their Annual Easter Festival on March 24th from 11:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Duties and assignments could consist of helping with parking, handing out maps and bags to people as they enter, helping with trash, and set up, break down and even hiding eggs or being the Easter Bunny. The Southern Maryland Chronicle is a local, small business entrusted to provide factual, unbiased reporting to the Southern Maryland Community. While we look to local businesses for advertising, we hope to keep that cost as low as possible in order to attract even the smallest of local businesses and help them get out to the public. We must also be able to pay employees(part-time and full-time), along with equipment, and website related things. We never want to make the Chronicle a “pay-wall” style news site.

To that end, we are looking to the community to offer donations. Whether it’s a one-time donation or you set up a reoccurring monthly donation. It is all appreciated. All donations at this time will be going to furthering the Chronicle through hiring individuals that have the same goals of providing fair, and unbiased news to the community.
