Update 1/17/2018- The accidental fire was the result of a fire within the furnace located in the basement of the residence. The sole adult occupant was displaced as a result of the fire and is being assisted by the American Red Cross. The loss of structure($125,000) and property($50,000.00) is estimated to be $175,000.00.
UPDATE 1:44 p.m.- The fire has been placed under control. The previous report of a two-story home has been revised to a split foyer home.
Waldorf, MD 12:41 p.m.- A two-story house fire was reported on Timberbrook Drive in Waldorf, MD this afternoon. Units are on the scene. The units have tried to cut the power but are not able to at this time. Additionally, they are reporting that the fire is contained to the second level.
Expect units to remain in the area for the next few areas. The Fire Marshal has been requested, more information to come when a report is issued.

The Southern Maryland Chronicle is a local, small business entrusted to provide factual, unbiased reporting to the Southern Maryland Community. While we look to local businesses for advertising, we hope to keep that cost as low as possible in order to attract even the smallest of local businesses and help them get out to the public. We must also be able to pay employees(part-time and full-time), along with equipment, and website related things. We never want to make the Chronicle a “pay-wall” style news site.
To that end, we are looking to the community to offer donations. Whether it’s a one-time donation or you set up a reoccurring monthly donation. It is all appreciated. All donations at this time will be going to furthering the Chronicle through hiring individuals that have the same goals of providing fair, and unbiased news to the community.
