Engine compartment malfunction blamed in salvage yard vehicle fire

UPDATE 1/12/2018 5:46 p.m.-  The fire took place this morning at the CoParts Vehicle Salvage Yard on Billinsley Road.  The fire was determined to be accidental as a result of a malfunction in the engine compartment of the 2011 Kia Sorento.  The fire burned undiscovered for an extended period of time spreading to a total of 15 vehicles in the salvage yard. Fire Marshals report estimates loss at $112,000.

Charles County, MD 6:45 a.m.- Units from Waldorf Volunteers along with La Plata, Hughesville, Bryan’s Road and Bel Alton Volunteers responded to a lot that had multiple automobiles on fire on Billingsley Road.
